There’s a new basketball champion in Miami, and it’s not the Heat. The Miami Midnites, a professional developmental team and minor league affiliate of the Maccabi Haifa professional basketball team of the Israeli Basketball Super League, capped its inaugural season in the Florida Basketball Association with a championship after defeating the Tampa Bay Rebels 98-82. The relationship is an unprecedented one to have a minor league team in the States be a feeder system for an international basketball team in Israel.
