Members of Kogeki Dojo in Miami Shores competed in the most important karate competition in the country -- USA Karate National Championships and Team Trials for the World Games and Pan-American Games. Four athletes from Miami achieved excellent results in Pittsburgh, combining for six medals (two gold, two silver, two bronze). Camila Santaella won silver in the 8-year-old intermediate kata (individual form) division and bronze in kumite (sparring). This is the third consecutive year that this local hero makes it to the podium at nationals.
